What’s Happening around Sevier County, TN October 19 – 25, 2026
October is showing off around Sevier County this week, with colorful hillsides, a busy Thursday-to-Sunday event stretch, and something brand new in Dolly Parton’s hometown. Sevier County events October 19–25, 2026 include Sevierville’s History & Haunts, an overlanding expo in Pigeon Forge, a custom vehicle show and a free new downtown walking tour.
We’ll cover the weather and road closures first, then the things worth your time around Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Kodak and Great Smoky Mountains National Park. And yes, we’re still celebrating autumn. Thanksgiving has not happened yet! 🍂

🍁 Week at a Glance
- All week: The new free In Dolly’s Footsteps walking tour is ready to explore in downtown Sevierville.
- Monday, October 19: Sevierville’s seasonal leaf collection begins; watch for crews in residential neighborhoods.
- Thursday, October 22: History & Haunts fills downtown Sevierville from 6–8 p.m., with downtown street closures from 2–10 p.m.
- Friday–Saturday, October 23–24: Smoky Mountain Overland Invasion comes to Pigeon Forge; the Knife Works Fall Festival also takes place in Sevierville.
- Friday–Sunday, October 23–25: The Sparks Show takes over the Sevier County Fairgrounds.
- Also this week: Gatlinburg Craftsmen’s Fair, Dollywood Harvest Festival and Great Pumpkin LumiNights, library programs, and the Friday Harvey’s Boo Bash.

🌤️ Weather: A Pleasant Fall Stretch
The National Weather Service forecast for Sevierville points toward generally sunny, dry conditions for much of the week, with afternoon highs mostly in the lower to middle 70s. Mornings may be chilly, especially in shaded areas and at higher elevations.
That sounds good for walking downtown and browsing outdoor displays. Pack a light jacket for the early and late hours, and do not assume Gatlinburg or the mountains will be as warm as Sevierville. Sunday’s forecast is still beyond the current National Weather Service seven-day forecast window, so check again before making Saturday or Sunday plans.

🚗 Traffic & Road Work
History & Haunts: Downtown Sevierville Closure Thursday
The City of Sevierville confirms Thursday, October 22, 2–10 p.m. closures on Court Avenue from Joy Street to Commerce Street and Bruce Street from the Courthouse parking lot to the City Municipal Parking Lot exit. The festival itself runs 6–8 p.m., but the restrictions start four hours earlier. See the City’s official traffic advisory.
If you are downtown to visit Dolly’s statue, follow the new walking tour, eat, or conduct business, plan around those closures. Friday and Saturday could also be busy around the LeConte Center and Teaster Lane in Pigeon Forge, while traffic at the Sevier County Fairgrounds may increase for The Sparks Show.
Boyds Creek Highway Bridge: Stay Alert Through Friday
Bridge-related waterline work just east of Winfield Dunn Parkway (Highway 66) has been underway. The City’s standing advisory allows for possible eastbound lane restrictions from 7 a.m.–5 p.m. through October 23. These are not guaranteed all-day closures: watch the actual signs, cones and flaggers on the day you travel. Old Knoxville Highway and Gists Creek Road are possible alternate routes.
For other construction or unexpected slowdowns, check TDOT SmartWay. We are not treating an older construction report as confirmation of lane closures for this particular week.

🎶 New in Sevierville: Walk In Dolly’s Footsteps
A new permanent attraction opened Friday, October 16, and it is a good option for this week’s visitors and locals: In Dolly’s Footsteps, a free, self-guided walking tour exploring Dolly Parton’s early life in downtown Sevierville. The route connects nine historic locations, each with a granite-and-bronze marker and QR-linked photos, videos or stories.
Begin near the Dolly Parton statue outside the Sevier County Courthouse at 125 Court Avenue, pick up a complimentary brochure, and explore at your own pace. Stops include the former Pines Theater, where Dolly earned her first performing paycheck, and Red’s Café. Learn about In Dolly’s Footsteps.
Our local tip: This is a good excuse to slow down and enjoy downtown businesses rather than snap a statue photo and leave. Thursday’s History & Haunts street closures could complicate parking and access, so another day or an earlier visit may be easier.

🎪 Events & Things to Do
Thursday, October 22: History & Haunts
Historic downtown Sevierville hosts its free family-friendly History & Haunts celebration from 6–8 p.m. Expect historic tours, costume contests (including a dog costume competition), games, music and an 8 p.m. fireworks finale. Some individual activities may carry a small fee. Official event information and schedule.
Friday–Saturday, October 23–24: Smoky Mountain Overland Invasion
The LeConte Event Center in Pigeon Forge hosts the first Smoky Mountain Overland Invasion, with adventure vehicles, camping rigs, gear vendors and displays. General admission is $15 for adults, $5 for children 6–12, and free for ages 5 and younger. Admission is purchased at the door, and a new daily ticket is needed for each day you attend. Check the event organizer’s details.
Friday–Sunday, October 23–25: The Sparks Show
Custom vehicles and modified trucks take over the Sevier County Fairgrounds, 754 Old Knoxville Highway. Published show hours are Friday 9 a.m.–4 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m.–5 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m.–1 p.m. (with awards around 1 p.m.). If you enjoy minitrucks and custom builds, this is one of the weekend’s more distinctive shows. Check show information before going.
Gatlinburg Craftsmen’s Fair

The Gatlinburg Craftsmen’s Fair continues through October 28 at the Gatlinburg Convention Center, with handmade arts, craft demonstrations and music. Adult admission is $12, and children 17 or younger get in free with a paid adult. It’s an easy way to spend some time downtown while enjoying autumn in the Smokies.
More October Options
- Smoky Mountain Knife Works Fall Festival: Friday and Saturday, October 23–24, with demonstrations, vendor activity and other special programming at the Sevierville store.
- Rodney Atkins at Country Tonite: Friday, October 23, in Pigeon Forge. Published start times have differed between sources, so confirm directly with the theater before making plans.

🎃 Dollywood & Attractions: Still Autumn
Dollywood’s Harvest Festival and Great Pumpkin LumiNights continue through October 31. There is still time to see the glowing pumpkins, enjoy seasonal food and wander the fall displays before the park’s Christmas changeover.
Friday, October 23: Harvey’s Boo Bash is a separately ticketed evening at Dollywood. The current official event page lists ticket-holder entry beginning at 4 p.m. and the exclusive after-hours portion from 9 p.m.–midnight. Tickets are currently listed at $129.99 plus tax for ages four and older, and a regular theme-park ticket alone does not include this event.
On the Harvest Festival stages: Dollywood’s current entertainment lineup lists Taylor & Tori October 19–21, The Malpass Brothers October 19–20, and The Isaacs October 21–25. The performances are included in the park’s scheduled entertainment, but times and lineups may change. See Dollywood’s official entertainment page and the daily schedule.
We recommend checking Dollywood’s official day-by-day operating calendar before a visit rather than relying on older press releases or assuming every day has the same closing time. No individual park hours are being claimed here without that live daily-calendar check.

🏞️ Around the Great Smoky Mountains

Fall foliage makes the national park popular, especially around Gatlinburg entrances, Newfound Gap Road and scenic overlooks. An early start can mean easier parking and a more relaxed trip than arriving around midday. Remember that higher elevations may be much cooler than downtown Sevierville.
The National Park Service lists Bullhead Trail rehabilitation closures Monday through Thursday through November 19 and temporary closures or cautions at the Carlos Campbell Overlook and Mingus Mill. Kuwohi Road is seasonally scheduled through November 29, weather permitting, but any mountain road may close temporarily for unsafe conditions. Check current park closures and park conditions before heading out.

Sevierville Leaf Collection Begins Monday

Bagged leaves can go out with the City’s bulk collection, and vacuum collection is planned neighborhood by neighborhood. Keep loose leaves in narrow rows off the roadway, free of sticks and rocks. See City of Sevierville leaf collection advisory for full instructions.

🧠 Local Trivia: Dolly’s Downtown Legacy
The bronze Dolly Parton statue outside the Sevier County Courthouse is one of Sevierville’s best-known landmarks. But do you know the artist behind it?
Question: Which East Tennessee artist sculpted Sevierville’s famous bronze statue of Dolly Parton?
Think about your answer. We’ve placed it below the Sponsor Spotlight.

💡 Local Trivia Answer
Jim Gray! The local artist sculpted Dolly’s bronze courthouse statue, which Dolly herself unveiled on May 2, 1987. It shows a youthful Dolly sitting on a rock, strumming a guitar. Dolly has said the honor mattered especially because it made her father proud. See Sevierville’s Dolly Parton history.
🔭 Look Ahead: Halloween, Standard Time & November
🎃 Halloween Week: October 28–31
Wednesday, October 28: The fall Gatlinburg Craftsmen’s Fair wraps up its run at the Gatlinburg Convention Center.
Thursday, October 29: Pigeon Forge’s Safety Day and Halloween Spooktacular bring family activities to the Pigeon Forge Community Center. Check event times before heading out.
Friday, October 30: Dollywood holds its final separately ticketed Harvey’s Boo Bash.
Saturday, October 31: Halloween celebrations include the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office Spooktacular Block Party downtown and trick-or-treating at The Island in Pigeon Forge.
Also October 31: It’s the last day of Dollywood’s Harvest Festival and Great Pumpkin LumiNights. Enjoy those pumpkins while you can!
⏰ Sunday, November 1: We Return to Standard Time
On November 1, we return to Eastern Standard Time after daylight saving time artificially advanced our clocks in March. Standard time doesn’t shorten the amount of daylight we receive. Our days have been gradually getting shorter since the June solstice, whether the clocks change or not.
Sevier County Digest strongly supports permanent standard time as the more logical and healthier year-round standard. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine also favors permanent standard time because it better aligns with natural light and our biological clocks.
Learn more about the movement at Save Standard Time.
🍂 Early November: From Pumpkins to Christmas Lights
November 1–5: Dollywood’s theme park closes for its annual changeover from autumn decorations to Christmas.
Thursday, November 5: Gatlinburg Winter Magic begins.
Friday, November 6: Dollywood reopens for Smoky Mountain Christmas, and Pigeon Forge Winterfest begins.
We’re sharing those dates for visitors making plans, not recommending that everyone skip autumn and Thanksgiving. We’re keeping the pumpkins and fall colors a little longer, thank you very much!
📅 A Little Farther Ahead
Wednesday, November 11: Gatlinburg’s Veterans Day observance.
Thursday, November 12: Gatlinburg’s Chili Cookoff.
Friday, November 13: Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland is scheduled to begin at Soaky Mountain Waterpark in Sevierville.
⚠️ Shadrack’s: A Consumer Caution
Before buying tickets, compare the total cost and the terms. Current posted admission is $39.95 per vehicle, or $34.95 on eligible weekdays, plus taxes and fees. Promotions may change the price. Tickets are for one visit and are nonrefundable.
Busy evenings can involve long, slow-moving lines, brake lights and vehicle exhaust. We’ve heard complaints about pricing and customer-service experiences, so read recent reviews before spending your money. See the organizer’s current pricing and terms.
And as we’ve said, autumn and Thanksgiving deserve their turn before anyone feels pressured into Christmas activities.

🍂 Final Local Tip
Downtown Sevierville is getting more interesting to explore on foot, and the new Dolly tour gives visitors a reason to spend time there beyond the courthouse photo stop. Aim for a weekday morning if you can, and remember that Thursday evening’s History & Haunts will change downtown traffic and parking.
